The Dermamelan uses a variety of active ingredients including Azelaic Acid, Kojic Acid, Phytic Avid, Ascorbic Acid, Arbutine and Titanium Dioxide. Dermamelan is a popular solution to many people who have struggled with other methods of depigmentation treatments that have failed in the past. The treatment is effective for all types of Melasma, PIH, pigment that has not lightened with Hydroquinone products, pigmentation that has not resolved with chemical peels, pigmentation due to sun exposure and pigmentation due to acne breakouts. The Dermamelan is completely safe to use all year around on any skin type. The added benefits that clients love about the Dermamelan are the fresh glowing skin that shows minimized pore size, diminished fine lines and a brighter complexion.

Dermamelan In House Treatment

The Dermamelan procedure consists of two facial masks applied to the skin at appointments 3-4 weeks apart. Your first treatment will begin with a mild chemical peel to reduce the excess dead skin debris on the surface of the skin. Next your technician will apply a thick layer of the Dermamelan mask to the skin. The mask will stay on the skin for most of the day before you wash it off with gentle cleanser at home. For light skin types the mask will remain on for 8 hours. For medium skin types the mask will remain on for 10 hours. For darker skin types the mask will remain on for 12 hours. After cleansing off the mask, you will immediately start to see the progress of the lightening effect taking place. Starting day 2 you will apply the Dermamelan treatment cream at home. At your second appointment, when the mask is applied, the technician will advise you on the time length to keep it on according to the type of results you are trying to achieve. Your skin will appear pink for 2-5 days after the treatment and may have some minor irritation and peeling for 10-14 days after each of the mask applications.

Dermamelan Home Treatment

The second most important component to the Dermamelan is the home maintenance cream. This cream should be applied using the 3-2-1 Rule.

 

3 times per day during the first month
2 times a day for 2 months
1 times a day for a period determined by your skin care professional (maximum 12 months)

How Long Should The Dermamelan Mask Stay On The Skin?

Your nurse will inform you in after care instructions regarding the length of time appropriate for your skin. Most often the mask will have to remain on the skin for a period of 6-12 hours. After the application of the mask in the clinic, you can return home and wash it off with warm water and cleanser at the appropriate time.

 

How Long Should I Use The Maintenance Cream And How Long Until My Next Treatment?

The maintenance cream must be used 3 times per day starting 12- 24 hours after the Dermamelan mask is removed. After two to three weeks you will return for one more mask application. One month after your first application you will begin using the treatment cream only twice a day for two months. After this time you will come in for a follow-up with your skin specialist. Most clients will be able to reduce the maintenance cream use to once a day for the next four to six months until the entire Dermamelan cycle is complete.

 

When Will I Start Noticing Results?

Immediately after the first mask application is removed you will start to see a lightening effect that will continue to improve over a six month period until optimal results are achieved.

 

How Does Dermamelan Work?

The Dermamelan works to reduce the pigmentation by blocking the tyrosinase enzyme that is responsible for the production of pigmentation in the skin. The Dermamelan is able to regulate the amount of melanin pigment that is formed in the skin and exfoliate the dark visible pigmentation which evens out the skins tone and reduces the hyperpigmentation.
